The 'Rui Nabeiro' Biodiversity Chair team expanded

Three post doctoral researchers, and one PhD student were recently awarded a FCT (Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia) fellowships to work jointly with the Rui Nabeiro Biodiversity Chair (CIBIO Évora).

Borja Mila was awarded a PhD in 2005 by the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), USA. He worked as post doctoral research fellow at UCLA, CNRS in Moulis, France, and the CSIC in Madrid, Spain. The title of his research project is "Integrating molecular biogeography and environmental niche models to infer speciation mechanisms, establish species limits, and identify priority areas for conservation of Liolaemus lizards" in Chile and Argentina.

Regan Early was awarded a PhD in 2007 by the University of York, UK. She worked as a post doctoral research fellow at Brown University, Rhode Island, USA. The title of her research project is "Species Range Shifts under 21st Century Climate Change: Limitations and Conservation Strategies".

Luís Reino is expected to be awarded a PhD in 2010 by the Technical University of Lisbon. The title of his project is "Ecologically Scaled Edge Responses: Patterns, Mechanisms and Predictive Modelling"

Raquel Garcia was awarded a PhD studentship involving the Rui Nabeiro Biodiversity Chair at the University of Évora as well as the National Museum of Natural Sciences in Madrid and Stellenbosch University in South Africa. The title of her project is "Conservation planning in a changing climate: identifying biogeographical realms and landscape patterns to maximise biodiversity persistence in sub-Saharan Africa".
