Luso-Brazilian Cooperation project with “Rui Nabeiro” Biodiversity Chair approved

FCT and CAPES approve a Cooperation project between the “Rui Nabeiro” Biodiversity Chair and the Federal University of Goiás in Goiânia.

The “Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT)” from Portugal and the “Fundação Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES)”, from Brazil, approve a bilateral cooperation project between the “Rui Nabeiro” Biodiversity Chair and the Federal University of Goiás in Goiânia. The project coordinators are the teachers Alexandre Diniz Filho and Miguel Bastos Araújo. The project name is “Potential distribution of species and climate change: effects of biotic interactions and implications for biodiversity conservation in the Neotropics.” and includes the exchange of researchers included in programs for advanced training (doctoral and postdoctoral). The project duration is 2 years and may be extended by one year, based on scientific assessment of the final report.

Summary: A bilateral programme of research cooperation between the ‘Rui Nabeiro’ Biodiversity Chair (CIBIO University of Évora) and the Federal University of Goiás was recently approved by the Portuguese FCT and the Brazilian CAPES. The research programme entitled “Potential Distribution of Species under Climate Change: the Effects of Biotic Interactions and Implications for Biodiversity Conservation in the Neotropics” involves exchange of researchers and students between the two institutions. The project is led by Profs Alexandre Diniz Filho and Miguel B. Araújo and will last for 2 years, with the possibility of extension for a third year.
